Did you manage to read your books? Which ones? I read them all!
If you read more than one, did you enjoy them? What was your favorite? They were all good books in their own genre. History Is All You Left Me deals with grief, relationships and mental illnesses. Usually not a fan of first-person narrative, but it definitely worked in this particular book. It was both bittersweet and hopeful.
The Embroidered Book... A book that has actual historical events and people mixed with magical realism? On paper it sounds great, right? Don't get me wrong, it was not a bad book per say. Just... there was something about the author's writing style that didn't make this book as awesome to me as I wished it would be. Can't put my finger in it, but nevertheless, I wish I would have loved this book even more than I did. But hey, French Revolution, Marie Antoinette and her sister the Queen of Naples, rogue magisters and magic that works on sacrifices. All the pieces are there!
The Last Mrs. Parrish: I can honestly say that this book is one of the best thrillers I've read for a while. It starts with the protagonist Amber telling her side of the things, and how she is willing to do anything to get herself a rich husband. And then you hear the same story from another point of view, and everything changes... 100% recommended!
Would you recommend your chosen book(s)? Yes to all of them, if they are in a genre that you happen to like.
Did you read anything else this month, outside of your chosen books? I read The Plains of Passage by Jean M. Untinen-Auel and Fishing for the Little Pike by Juhani Karila. The second one was actually my March choice I wasn't able to get from the library sooner.
